CAPER CREW IS COMING TO NETFLIX
‘Easy Tiger’s ‘Caper Crew’ set for worldwide mischief on Netflix’
The Australian Children’s Television Foundation (ACTF) has sold the global rights to Caper Crew to Netflix, excluding Australia, with the streamer set to launch the series in more than 190 territories.
Produced by Easy Tiger for the ABC, Caper Crew , the series follows siblings Amelia and Kai Delaney, living in the quiet town of Woodspring, whose lives are upended when their glamorous con-artist grandmother Queenie appears on their doorstep and introduces them to the “Ten Con-mandments,” her personal playbook of mischief, mayhem and the art of the grift.
The cast includes Tina Bursill (Strife), Annie Maynard (Colin From Accounts), Guy Edmonds (Hardball), Michael Theo (Austin), Isabella Zhang, Caitlin Niemotko, Luka Sero, and Tevita Hau.
Edmonds was the set-up director, working with directors Stef Smith and Shelly Lauman. Keith Thompson, Matthew Whittet, Amy Stewart, Jack Yabsley, and Erica Harrison wrote the series, which had major production investment from Screen Australia and the ACTF, and financial support from Screen NSW.
Yingna Lu was series producer, working with EPs Ian Collie, Rob Gibson, and the ACTF’s Bernadette O’Mahony, as well as ABC commissioning editor Mary-Ellen Mullane.
Netflix ANZ content director Amanda Duthie said the series, which premiered on the ABC in April, fit the streamer’s track record with Australian children’s content.
“Caper Crew has all the wit, warmth and mischief that Australian children’s series do so well, and we can’t wait for kids and families around the world to discover it on Netflix,” she said.
“Amelia, Kai and Queenie are about to become firm favourites in lounge rooms everywhere.”
Caper Crew follows a number of Australian children’s series to find international audiences on Netflix, including The Inbestigators, Little Lunch, Surviving Summer and H2O: Just Add Water. According to Netflix’s latest Global Engagement Report, 10 of the top 20 Australian titles on the platform were made for children.
The ABC retains the Australian rights to Caper Crew.
